Many thanks...

Well I have to say this week was a wee bit more fun than last! At least the surgery was completed successfully, I believe, and I was able to come home. Once being home things did not change too much as I still got to move from a chair with ice pack to a bed with ice pack.

However, the very best thing was the drugs. My oh my, as most of you know I am blond so when you add drugs to the mix you have one mixed up, messed up blond. (As you know that is not a hard thing to do in the first place.) Sorry if any of you received some of the unintelligible emails I sent. I deny responsibility...

The nicest part though was all the wonderful get-well cards I have received, not to mention the beautiful floral bouquets. You must realize I have to walk about 70 steps to get from my chair to my bed so the floral arrangements were a delight to my eyes and the fragrance added to the incentive to get moving and do what the doctor ordered.

I was very fortunate in that when the doc told me I could not drive or travel, I did as any sane woman would do. I threw a fit. I told him I absolutely had to go see my friends at the golf course on Saturday as I had a big check to pick up so we could help those less fortunate than ourselves. He finally relented with ok; you must stop and walk a bit, not sit in the same position for an overly long period and get back home as soon as possible. Well, even though I did not win on all counts, I counted my blessings and decided that I know when I have a good thing going and when it is best to just “zip it”.

I was so pleased to see so many of you at the outing and what a beautiful day you had to watch those balls do exactly as you planned them to do.

My special thanks to DGE Sean Hogan, chair, and his hard working committee. These things do not just happen without a lot of good planning and hard work. Who knows maybe even a bit of wine added to the mix? Congratulations my friend.

I was also pleased that we had collected approximately $83,000.00 in donations for the annual fund and polio plus. What a generous group of Rotarians we have in District 5050. We do know there is more to come and by November, we will have a better number for you. You will be able to follow it in the PAJ as we have a dedicated page just for District Foundation giving. Thank you again for all you do to help others to embrace humanity and make the world a better place to live.

However, while I was at the golf course, I met up with our esteemed PDG Wayne Wiebe. It seems he has been able to have the title of DG for a bit longer than most. This was because his PDG pin did not arrive in time for his departure. So we had a bit of fun with me being able to bestow this well deserved pin on him over a glass of (what looked like orange juice) you think? Anyway, now PDG Wayne has his official pin and he told me “It was time for me to get to work”.

Sorry I had no other pictures of the golf event itself, but if you have some, please send them to our Webmaster "Tiffany McFadyen" <tmcfadyen@live.ca>, and she will be glad to post them on my blog, face book the website and anywhere it is legal to do so.

I was not able to attend the hike on Saturday, but am hopeful many of you took advantage of this beautiful weather and were able to enjoy it. Thank you Ajay Caleb and your great committee for putting this event together.

This will be an exciting week, as I will see the Dr. and get my marching (or not) orders. I will then be out on the road again to see all of you very soon.

I am very much looking forward to that.

The new schedule will be up this week and all AG’s will inform the clubs of the revised visit schedule.

Thank you for your patience with this unfortunate set of circumstances. I will make it up to you for your inconvenience and we will have a great time doing it.

My best to all of you!

Jane
